STORY -- Project Citizen, TX

STORY -- Project Citizen, TX

Through the course of their Project Citizen experience, students were able to interview the Mayor of Forth Worth, a city councilwoman, several people at Children Services, and a college sociology professor at Texas Christian University. They were nervous about phone interviews, but gained the skills and confidence to conduct themselves in a professional manner. Students were eager to conduct research, amazing my colleagues that I was able to motivate them to work so hard! They also came together as a group to complete the portfolio in a way they had not experienced before this project.

The students that represented our class were introduced to the Texas House of Representative's floor, and were able to meet with our representative in her office. The students talked on the drive home about how they were not sure what this trip was going to be like, but it was better than they had imagined.
