Social Studies Standards: 6100.01 – 6210.06. U.S. Government and Citizenship Standards, 6210.01 - .06, include U.S. Constitution, rights and privileges of individuals and groups, distribution of power and responsibilities of citizenship.

U.S. Government and Citizenship: The goal of this course is to foster informed, responsible participation in public life. Knowing how to be a good citizen is essential to the preservation and improvement of United States democracy. Upon completion of this course the student will understand the major ideas, protections, privileges, structures, and economic systems that affect the life of a citizen in the United States political system.

Civic and Character Education in Schools: provides legislative recognition that Civic and Character Education are fundamental elements of the public education system's core mission and constitutional responsibility and shall be taught in connection with regular school work. (Utah Code Ann. § 53A-13-109)
