The Nevada Social Studies Standards for civics are meant to serve as a K-12 framework. Standards organized around 3 themes: (1) civic foundations, (2) political processes and (3) rights and responsibilities. "The goals [sic] of civics education in Nevada is to create knowledgeable citizens who will participate in political life and be committed to the fundamental values and principles of democracy....Democracy does not simply exist; it is participatory" (from the introduction to the civics content standards).
